General information

The University of Bergamo was founded on December 11, 1968, under the name "Institute of Foreign Languages ​​and Literature" and in 1992 became a public university located at the foot of the Alps, near Milan. It consists of an old palace, courtyard, monastery buildings, and a historic building. A group of students who graduated in 2004 opened an additional campus in Treviglio. Its 3 main buildings, located in 3 different regions, are made up of 7 faculties, and its 656 employees provide a dynamic, scientific, and educational environment open to innovation.

The University of Bergamo, which has been part of the exchange program since 1987, began accepting foreign students and its position in international education is gradually increasing and it is among the preferred universities in Italy with its quality and competent education system. Moreover to undergraduate and graduate programs, the university has the dual degree and doctoral programs. Moreover, the university strives to make students the best in their academic careers and supports students with internships and work after graduation.

The language of instruction for the undergraduate program is Italian and lasts 3 years. For admission, knowledge of the Italian language is required. Also, each faculty requires a local admission exam (TOLC-OFA, TVI).

There are 11 different departments in English and 13 different departments in Italian for the master's degree. The term of study for a master's degree is 2 years. To apply, language skills at B2 level and bachelor's level are required.

Location of the University of Bergamo?

The University of Bergamo is located in Lombardy, one of the most populous regions of Northern Italy, which is older than Rome and has a deep history. Surrounded by Venetian walls, the city became an important city in the Middle Ages and became a bridge between West and East. Bergamo, a tiny charming town in Northern Italy at the foot of the Alps, connects the two with a funicular. Although this place is considered difficult to access as it is located at the foot of the mountain, it is easily accessible from various bus and train stations.

Bergamo is divided into two cities: upper and lower. Called Città Alta in Italian, the upper district (old town) is full of cobbled streets surrounded by UNESCO-listed Venetian walls and can only be reached by funicular. The Lower Town (Città Bassa) is the modern part of the city. Campus life in Bergamo is quite comfortable in terms of transport.

Accommodation at the University of Bergamo

The University of Bergamo offers its students a variety of accommodation and residence options. Students wishing to enroll in university or doctoral courses between early July and late August or early September each year can apply for housing even if they are not yet enrolled in the university. The cost of living in residences varies from 250 Euros to 600 Euros per month. The price depends on the type of room (single or double room).
