General information

The University of Milano-Bicocca is one of the fastest-growing public universities in Italy, focused on research and innovation. Founded on June 10, 1998, as an autonomous organization, the university is one of the youngest universities in the world.

It is a multidisciplinary university offering a wide range of academic programs in various disciplines such as economics, computer science, statistics, law, education, sociology, medicine and surgery, mathematics, natural sciences, physics and astrophysics, chemistry, computer science, biotechnology, and psychology.

The University of Milan-Bicocca, which is the 3rd largest university in Lombardy, is ranked 2nd among similar universities according to ANVUR (National Institute for the Evaluation of University Quality Research), 8 out of 14 departments in its composition received high marks. With 900 faculty members and researchers, Bicocca offers a wide range of undergraduate programs in economics-statistics, law, medicine, phytology (botany, crop production), natural science, sociology, and education.

Location of the University of Milano-Bicocca?

The University of Milano-Bicocca is located in Milan. The main buildings of the university are located in the northeast of the city, close to the Greco-Pirelli train station.

The University of Milano-Bicocca is located in an area on the northern outskirts of Milan, which until the late 1980s was occupied by the Pirelli industrial complex. The industrial area was transformed by the architect Vittorio Gregotti into an urban complex that includes university research laboratories and student residences. The origins of the University of Milan-Bicocca can be traced back to a division of the University of Milan, which became overcrowded in the 1990s with about 90,000 students. Bicocca, a large area north of Milan, has been chosen to host the new university. The campus in the area was part of a larger city redevelopment project.

Faculty of Medicine  of the University of Milano-Bicocca

The Department of Medicine and Surgery (Faculty of Medicine and Surgery) of the University of Milan Bicocca has welcomed over 2,700 students since its foundation in 1999. It is the only faculty of the Bachelor's degree program at the University of Milan Bicocca in English.

The Center for Medicine and Surgery is located in Monza, close to the San Gerardo Clinical Hospital, where wellness and clinical research in the field of personal health is carried out, independently of the headquarters of the University of Milan in Bicocca. The teaching methodology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Milan at Bicocca is very different from all other medical faculties in Italy. To further improve the quality of education, the medical school uses the PBL (Problem-Based Learning) teaching methodology. This teaching methodology is largely associated with increased group collaboration and improved team learning, which is considered to be more effective than classroom teaching methodology. Thanks to this unique method of medical education at the University of Milan Bicocca, training is carried out in neurology, digestive system, musculoskeletal system, cardiovascular and respiratory system, pediatrics, endocrine kidney disease, gynecology, and urinary tract.

Medical education at the University of Milan Bicocca lasts 6 years. For admission, you must pass the International Medical Admissions Test (IMAT). The cost of the test is approximately 130 Euros.

Tuition fee

University of Milano-Bicocca endeavors to provide prospective and current students with useful and reliable means of seeking payment, funding, and scholarships.

Tuition fees are calculated based on the student’s family income and country of origin. The cost varies from 156 to 600 Euros. Italy is one of the countries offering the most scholarships in Eurospe. Scholarship opportunities differ depending on the university and the faculty you are applying to. In Italy, consisting of regions, each region provides scholarships in accordance with its established rules. These scholarships vary based on family income, academic performance and personal income of students. Accommodation

University of Milano-Bicocca offers its students accommodation according to their needs. There are 5 different colleges associated with the university. Special opportunities are also offered for Erasmus exchange students. After the application is submitted, a selection process is conducted to take advantage of the university-related accommodation services. Moreover, since the university is located in the student area, it is possible to find a house or room at an affordable price.
