General information

The University of Padua was founded in 1222 with the arrival of a group of academics and students from Bologna to Padua and is the second oldest university in Italy. Protecting freedom of thought in work and education is one of the most important principles of the university. The striking slogan “Universa Universalis Patavina Libertas” (Padua's freedom for all) has become one of its hallmarks.

In Padua, studied Andrea Vesalio, who created modern anatomy, Copernicus in astronomy and Galileo, who watched the sky, William Harvey, famous for his description of blood circulation, and in 1678 Elena Lucrezia Cornaro Piskopia became the first woman in the world to graduate from university.

The University of Padua is part of the Coimbra Group of 39 oldest and most respected universities in Europe, as well as renowned universities such as Cambridge and Oxford.

Faculty of Medicine

The Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Padua aims to instill in students basic medical values through clinical experience at a very early stage, by teaching the deeper medical sciences.

This teaching method allows students to quickly learn the clinical and basic concepts of diseases and how to treat them. Likewise, they learn to communicate with other students, staff, and patients. The training lasts 6 years and you must pass the IMAT exam when applying.
