General information

A public institution of higher education in Italy. The history of the University of Florence dates back to 1321. The University of Florence is one of the oldest universities in Europe, which offers relevant, highly qualified programs. Most popular are: biomedicine, technology, humanities, and education, and strives to educate them in the best possible way.

The educational body accepts students from all over the world, teaches more than 50,000 students. The university employs 1,700 teachers and junior researchers, 1,600 administrative staff. An average of 9,000 students graduate annually from the University of Florence, which employs a rich academic and administrative staff.

The University of Florence does not cut ties with its alumni. Compared to other universities in Italy, it is the alumni of the University of Florence who find work in the first year after graduation. Also, the university has a cooperation agreement with 270 universities from 70 different countries.

Life, art, and culture in the University of Florence

Florence is the capital of Tuscany, located in the central-northern part of the Italian peninsula, on the banks of the Arno River. It is easily accessible from anywhere in Italy and from abroad by plane, car or train. Florence is located on the main railway lines of the country; Amerigo Vespucci International Airport has located just 5 km from the city center. The A1 toll road (motorway) connects Florence in the north with Bologna and Milan and in the south with Rome and Naples.

Florence, with a glorious past, is today an important center of culture, production, trade, and industry. The city attracts tourists from all over the world.

Florence has an outstanding artistic heritage, a magnificent expression of centuries of civilization. Cimabue and Giotto, the fathers of Italian painting, lived here. It is the cradle of the Renaissance with Brunelleschi, Donatello, Masaccio, Ghiberti, Della Robbias, Fra Angelico, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. His works, along with those of many other artists, are collected in numerous museums in the city. Thanks to Dante, the Italian language was born in Florence; Petrarch and Boccaccio gave impetus to literary criticism.

Florence played a central role during the period of humanism. With Machiavelli, modern political science was born, with the historical prose of Guicciardini, and with Galileo, modern experimental science.

Florence today is an important international cultural center, renowned for its academics, art schools, and scientific institutes. The city is an active and vibrant cultural center, where many exhibitions and festivals are held every year.

Campus life in

The University of Florence and its students are international and welcome students from a wide range of nationalities. Students studying at this university have the opportunity to meet people from different cultures and can improve their personal relationships. More than 3,000 students are enrolled in the university every year, and about 1,000 students are enrolled in the Erasmus program.

You can interpret your musical talents by joining the choir or orchestra of the University of Florence, you can play a tournament at the sports center for fun, pleasure, or competition, or you can take part in a tournament. Additionally, you can sign up for the theater and take your place on the stage behind the dramatic curta.

Tuition fee

Tuition fees at the University of Florence correspond to the economic situation of families and range from 156 to 2650 Euros. University fees are paid in two annual installments. The first installment is a fixed amount and the second is a variable amount. For international students who live abroad and have families with income, the first installment is calculated from a fixed amount of 156 Euros compared to other students, and the second installment is calculated from the amount corresponding to the family income.

Accommodation

The city of Florence offers different types of accommodation that can meet the different needs and possibilities of students: hotels, dormitories, residences, private or shared apartments, single-seated/two-seated rooms. Availability and cost vary greatly depending on the location and services offered.
