General information

The University of Perugia, founded by Pope Clemens V in 1308, is one of the oldest universities in Italy and Europe. It is located in the Umbria region, which is called the green heart of Italy.

The University of Perugia strives to promote excellence in many areas of education and has received many official accolades for the quality and dynamism of its academic structures. The university has 16 faculties and several centers of excellence and has approximately 35,000 students, 1,100 professors and researchers, and 1,100 employees.

The university provides its students with grant support, concluding agreements with more than 400 universities throughout the European Union under the Erasmus + program and about 150 cooperation agreements with universities in the EU and other countries. Thus, students will always have the opportunity to get to know different cultures. There is also a language center where international students teach Italian.

 

Location of the University of Perugia?

Perugia is the capital of the Umbria region, almost in the center of Italy, just two hours by train from Florence and Rome. A high hill and the surrounding valleys surround the city of 160,000. The Umbria region is surrounded by the regions of Tuscany, Lazio, and the Marche, and the Tiber River flows through the city.

The capital is a cultural center with an Etruscan arch, the complex of San Pietro and San Francesco al Prato, the National Gallery, Palazzo dei Priori, and Fontana Maggiore, many historical buildings, many places to taste typical products and cultural events that bring Umbria in life.

According to THE (Times Higher Education) World University Rankings for 2020, the University of Perugia ranks 351-400 points.

In the CWUR World University Rankings 2020-2021 ranks 379.

The ARWU 2020 rating, ranks from 401 to 500.

According to the QS World University Rankings for 2020 subjects, ranks 151-200 in the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmacology and in Agriculture and Forestry, in the range of 301-350 in the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy, 351-400 in Medicine, and 401 -450 in the department of life sciences and medicine.

Moreover, CENSIS is held annually, which for 7 years has been ranked first in the ranking of the largest public universities in Italy.

Università Degli Studi di Perugia offers its non-resident students (from both the EU and non-EU countries) the opportunity to benefit from free primary health care services provided by general practitioners or emergency doctors.

Tuition fee

The University of Perugia has established a registration fee of 366 Euros for individuals with an annual income of up to 10,000 Euros and 350 Euros in subsequent years.

The registration fee is 566 Euros for persons with an annual income of 10,000 to 15,000 Euros and 550 Euros in subsequent years.

The registration fee for persons with an annual income of 15,000 to 20,000 Euros ranges from 766 to 750 Euros in subsequent years.

Tuition fees at the University of Perugia are calculated based on the student’s family income and country of origin. The cost varies from 150 to 3500 Euros. Italy is one of the countries offering the most scholarships in Europe. Scholarship opportunities differ depending on the university and the faculty you are applying to. In Italy, consisting of regions, each region provides scholarships in accordance with its established rules. These scholarships vary based on family income, academic performance, and personal income of students.

Accommodation

There are dormitories at the University of Perugia. Your accommodation depends on the proximity of the faculty you studied. The monthly rent for double rooms is 150 Euros, including all maintenance costs. Moreover, you can easily find private residential areas such as private hostels, apartments, and hostels, as well as short-term youth hostels and hotels where you can stay temporarily.
