General information

The University of Pisa, with 17 research laboratories, is the first public university in Italy to provide education in computer science, dating back to the 11th century and the official founding of the University of Pisa in 1343.

Galileo Galilei, one of the most famous scientists in history, is best known for studying at the University of Pisa. The University of Pisa and the Pisa Institute of the National Research Council have strong ties, especially in the field of information technology.
